Film footage from Sights & Sounds of 1966, describing the “new” indoor swimming facility on campus, the Natatorium.
Commonly referred to as the “NAT,” the Natatorium is located on the west side of campus on beautiful Lake Mendota. It is home to the UW Swimming and Diving teams, the facility is shared by Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Physical Education and Kinesiology. The Nat was built in the 1960s, as part of a major three-stage building project to improve sports facilities on campus. It still stands today, on Observatory Drive on the UW-Madison campus.
